![]() This model has 12 hours of battery life and no handle. As soon as you pick it up, the whole device feels and looks great-it’s easy to tell that it’s built to last.īose offers a less-expensive version of the same speaker simply called the Revolve. If you’ve used other Bose products in the past, you know that with the higher price you get higher-quality sound and great design. We've seen portable Bluetooth speakers with longer battery life but 16 hours is more than enough for most people.Īt $299.99 (MSRP), Bose’s SoundLink Revolve+ Bluetooth speaker is a little on the costly side, especially if you want to buy two to pair together in Party or Stereo mode. Listening to it in shorter intervals, we could go several days without needing a charge. We found ourselves using the SoundLink Revolve+ almost every day to listen to podcasts or music while cooking. Unfortunately, that does mean you have to power it off and then on again to check the battery life. There is no visible battery indicator, but the voice telling you the battery percentage when you power it on is a great touch. The speaker easily lasts through an entire workday and will likely still have enough charge to keep going for an after-hours party as well. Lifewire / Benjamin Zeman Battery Life: Lasts all dayīose claims 16 hours of battery life with the SoundLink Revolve+, which we found to be accurate. Being able to place your left and right channel at any distance from each other can create some cool stereo listening fields. Stereo Mode is a cool feature that we hadn’t seen before on a portable Bluetooth speaker, giving you full control over a more dynamic sound experience. Party Mode is great if you want to have two speakers set up in different rooms playing the same thing, or have one speaker inside and the other outside. Unlike some of Bose’s other apps, the Bose Connect app is well designed, intuitive, and easy to use. The app isn’t necessary to use the Revolve+, but it lets you manage your speaker’s Bluetooth connections, connect two wireless speakers simultaneously in Party Mode, or set them up in Stereo Mode for left and right channel playback. The SoundLink Revolve+ can be paired with other speakers through the Bose Connect app, available for both iOS and Google devices. We weren’t able to find a definitive answer on how well this system works with newer Chromebooks, but ChromeOS does have a reputation for Bluetooth connectivity issues. Otherwise the connection was great with Windows, iOS and Android. The Bluetooth connection was stable across all our devices except a really old Acer C720 Chromebook, which seemed to timeout and disconnect after a while. ![]() The Revolve is great for gatherings, and its higher output makes it a great companion for a hangout session with friends and family.Lifewire / Benjamin Zeman Connectivity: Stereo and Party Mode The Mini 2 is best suited for a close, personal use, and is for the music enthusiast who wants a rich listening experience. The Mini 2 and the Revolve are both premium offerings from the house of Bose. PROS: – 360 degrees sound output – Water-resistant – Shock resistant – Goes a long time on a single charge – NFC is presentĬONS: – There is no NFC – It’s not shock-resistant or water-resistant – Could have been louderĬONS: – Charging is wired – The output sound is not as rich and does not have great high fidelity PROS: – Refined music – Good power considering it is a small box – Wireless charging dock – Left and right channels present Being best suited for events, parties, and gatherings, the sound comes into its own as music is dished out evenly in all directions.Ĭompared to the SoundLink Mini 2, it is better with bass, the midrange is well mapped, and the high frequencies are also quite well represented, providing you with a very good listening experience.ġ00% of volume on the Mini 2 is equal to 70% of the volume on the Revolve, but there is a bit of loss in fidelity and richness when compared to the Mini 2. It gives you enormous satisfaction when it comes to the sound. However, for personal listening purposes, this speaker does its job extremely well, having separate channels for left and right. The lower frequencies were well represented, and there was a faithful reproduction of the mid-range as well.īut the high frequencies were a touch damped. When playing sample music on it, this speaker gave us great depth, high fidelity, and rich sound, which are the trademarks of Bose. ![]() The mobile app helps you to fiddle about with the controls and that is a huge plus and an area where the Soundlink Revolve scores above the Soundlink Mini 2. The best feature of this speaker is that it can be paired with another of its kind and made to separate the sound into the right and left channels, or alternatively play the same music in different rooms seamlessly and in sync. ![]()
